To the homeland of Kali, Eskrima, Arnis!

Updated: Feb 8

This week our Instructor Robert 'Espada' Parkes and his daughter Rebekah 'Serenata' Parkes are off to Manila, capital of the Phillipines, to train in the De Campo 1-2-3 Original style of Filipino Martial Arts, originally developed by the late GM Jose Caballero. The De Campo style of Eskrima is famous as a Largo Mano "long-hand" or "long range" style, and was developed especially for Juego Todo (or full contact stick fighting).

Our duo will train under Paolo Pagaling, who has been certified as a Senior Instructor (Maestro) in De Campo 1-2-3 Original. Maestro Paolo (pictured above) is from the beautiful island of Marinduque. He started his De Campo training under Manong Eric Olavides, founder of Eskrima De Campo JDC-IO, and continued with Sir Mon Rivera. He then trained in the Original under Master Jomalin Caballero in 2017 and has been an active practitioner since then, promoting the art and helping build the organization. He is also a certified Instructor of Estokada de Campo headed by Manong Celestino Macachor (Manong Eric’s foremost student), and is the founder of Praktikali. He has been actively involved with Master Jomalin Caballero in the development of an online course that delivers the entire De Campo 1-2-3 Original curriculum.

While in the Phillipines, our team also hopes to meet many of the Masters and Instructors who teach FMA in Luneta (Rizal Park) every Sunday morning.
